Outlook Support - Adding Your Email to Outlook

These steps work for Outlook (Windows), Outlook for Mac, and Outlook Mobile (iOS/Android). Screens vary slightly by version but the settings are the same.

Before you start

Have these ready:

  • Your full email address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com)
  • Your mailbox password (set in cPanel under Email Accounts)

Outlook for Windows / Mac (desktop)

  1. Open Outlook → File → Add Account
  2. Enter your full email address → Connect
  3. If prompted to choose an account type, select IMAP (recommended over POP3)
  4. If Outlook doesn't auto-detect the settings, enter them manually: Incoming mail (IMAP)
    • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Port: 993
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
    Outgoing mail (SMTP)
    • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Port: 465 (or 587 with STARTTLS)
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
    • Require authentication: Yes (same username/password as incoming)
  5. Enter your password when prompted and click Connect / Finish

Outlook Mobile (iOS/Android)

  1. Open the Outlook app → tap Add Account → Add Email Account
  2. Enter your full email address → Continue
  3. Select IMAP if asked to choose an account type
  4. Enter the same IMAP/SMTP settings as above
  5. Enter your password and tap Sign In

Fixing "Cannot connect to server" or repeated password prompts

  1. Double-check the server name is exactly mail.yourdomain.com (using your real domain)
  2. Confirm the ports match the table above (993 for IMAP, 465 or 587 for SMTP)
  3. Make sure SSL/TLS encryption is selected, not "None"
  4. Confirm the password is correct by logging into webmail first (https://webmail.yourdomain.com) — if webmail works, the account itself is fine and it's an Outlook configuration issue

Common issues

Issue Likely cause Fix
Outlook won't auto-configure Autodiscover not set up Enter server settings manually (see above)
Sent emails land in Outbox and don't send Wrong SMTP port or missing authentication Set SMTP to port 465/587 with authentication enabled
Duplicate emails or "sync issues" Both IMAP and POP3 configured for the same address Remove the account and re-add using IMAP only
